High heat kanekalon is a type of synthetic fiber used for wig making, braids, and dreads. It's quite durable and tough, and has a heat resistance of 250°F (120°C), sometimes higher. It's much softer and silkier than kanekalon and can be a bit slippery. It comes in a considerably wider range of colors than regular kk, though, so sometimes it's worth the effort to work with!

High heat kanekalon does not shrink down like regular kanekalon and will stay quite soft even when it's set.

Boiling water generally isn't hot enough to seal high heat kanekalon. We recommend using a steamer or a wet wash cloth and straightener to seal dreads. High heat kanekalon is best suited for crochet dreads. For braids, it's best to seal the ends with rubber bands or thread, or use a damp cloth/straightener (like with dreads).

Length: 24" folded, 48" unfolded (60 cm folded, 120 cm unfolded).

Weight: 3.5 ounces (100 g).

Texture: Smooth, only very slightly kinky yaky texture. High heat kanekalon is very soft and somewhat slippery compared to regular kanekalon.

Brand: I Kick Shins.

Color: Dream (black at the top fading down into light pink, bright purple, and dark blueish purple at the tips). This color is not a blend; the individual strands are black and the top and colored at the tips.

In the fourth picture, customer Dajanique is wearing braids made from Dream high heat kanekalon.

The last two pictures are color comparison shots.

In one, Dream on the left, and 1B Off Black kk jumbo braid, Light Pink high heat kanekalon, Orchid kk jumbo braid, and Navy Blue kk jumbo braid on the right. 1B Off Black is identical to the black at the top of Dream. Light Pink is a little brighter than the pink in Dream, and Orchid is a little lighter than the bright purple color. The blueish purple at the tips of Dream is more violet-based whereas Navy Blue is straight up blue, but Navy Blue is a good starting point to make a handmade blend to match -- just add in small amounts of a dark purple (like Dark Purple, Deep Purple, or Dark Plum) and adjust ratios as needed! :)

In the other, the colors shown from left to right are Twilight, Dream, and Cotton Candy.
